About Altar

Altar is a small company in Southern California with one job: making sure the memories of the people we love don't scatter and fade after the funeral.

Why Altar exists

When someone dies, their memories end up everywhere and nowhere — photos on eleven phones, stories in a group chat, an obituary page that quietly expires a month after the service. Someone in the family always means to gather it all, someday.

Altar is that someday. One beautiful place where the whole family adds what only they know — the stories, the photos, the recipes, the sayings — and where it stays. Made once, kept for good.

What we believe

• A memorial shouldn't have a monthly bill. You pay once. It stays. Our Preservation Promise spells out exactly what that means.
• Memory is something families do together. The best memorials are built by everyone who loved the person — and reviewed by the family that keeps them.
• No ads, ever. Grief is not an audience. There is no advertising anywhere on Altar, and we never sell data.
• Remembrance is cultural, not generic. Altar draws on the warmth of the ofrenda — marigolds, candles, returning to the ones we love — rather than the gray hush of the funeral parlor. Families are welcome to remember in English or Spanish, whichever feels natural.

Who builds it

Altar is founder-built and independently run. When you write to support@altardigital.ai, a person reads it and replies — usually the person who built the thing you're asking about.
